Traditional Törggelen

The best part of autumn

Brightly coloured forests, mild weather and breathtaking views.
Anyone who has visited South Tyrol at least once in autumn will certainly have had the chance to take part in one of the region's oldest traditions: the Törggelen in the Isarco Valley.

This ancient tradition began as a way for farmers to thank their labourers for harvesting the grapes. It is celebrated in the typical local taverns, or "Buschenschank", and also in our Sonnenhotel Adler.

Hiking in autumn

In line with the old tradition, we serve delicious roast chestnuts, new wine, homemade Schlutzkrapfen (Tyrolean ravioli), a typical and wholesome barley soup, canederli (dumplings), home-made sausages and sauerkraut, speck and smoked meats, krapfen (jam doughnuts), and many other delights...

However, the traditional Törggelen in Villandro is not only a matter of feasting; before sitting down at table you can also enjoy a pleasant stroll through the brightly coloured autumn landscape. And there no better route than the Chestnut Trail (Kastanienweg), which passes right by both our hotels!
